L-Cysteine stabilizes protein structure and aids in the formation of collagen, thereby promoting healthy skin, hair and nail texture and elasticity. It is also a key component of an antioxidant system that helps detoxify the body by removing heavy metals and supporting glutathione production, the master antioxidant.
L-Cysteine is a sulfur-containing amino acid that plays a large role in making the structure of collagen. This makes this amino acid important in hair, skin and nail health. It in fact plays a role in creating the curl in hair. L-cysteine helps generate glutathione, the master antioxidant that helps support detoxification and immune system function. L-Cysteine will help make proteins such as Metallothionein, which have the role of binding to heavy metals such as mercury, lead and cadmium.
